1. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the PuzzleWorks mobile applications, related websites, and services (together, the “Service”), operated by PuzzleWorks (“PuzzleWorks,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). The Service is offered under the app name PuzzleWorks (bundle identifier com.puzzleworks).
By creating an account, accessing, downloading, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if higher) to create an account or use the Service. The Service is not directed to children under 13 and is not “Made for Kids.”
By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
3. The Service
PuzzleWorks is a community app for tracking jigsaw puzzle completions, sharing activity, messaging, and participating in community events and races. Features may change over time. We may add, modify, or discontinue parts of the Service.
4. Accounts
You need an account to use most features. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials confidential.
- All activity that occurs under your account.
- Providing accurate registration information and keeping it up to date.
Notify us promptly at support@puzzleworksapp.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
5. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time in the app: Account Settings → Delete Account (confirm by typing DELETE when prompted).
When you delete your account, we remove your profile and associated data as described in our Privacy Policy. Some information may remain briefly in backups or logs as needed for security, legal, or operational reasons, consistent with that policy.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of applicable laws.
- Harass, threaten, stalk, or abuse other users or PuzzleWorks staff.
- Upload, post, or share content that is illegal, fraudulent, defamatory, hateful, pornographic, or otherwise inappropriate for a general community audience.
- Upload non–puzzle-related spam, scams, malware, or disruptive material.
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems; probe, scrape, or overload the Service; or circumvent security or rate limits.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where applicable law expressly allows.
- Use automated bots or scripts to create accounts, send messages, or manipulate events/leaderboards without our written permission.
- Interfere with ads, consent, or tracking prompts in a way that violates platform or partner rules.
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or permanently ban accounts for violations. Bans may be immediate and may be lifetime; we are not obligated to provide an appeal process.
7. User Content and Moderation
You may submit content such as profile information, avatars, puzzle photos, completions, messages, and event-related material (“User Content”). You retain ownership of your User Content.
You grant PuzzleWorks a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content as needed to operate and improve the Service (for example, showing your completions in the feed or event results).
You represent that you have the rights to submit your User Content and that it does not infringe others’ rights.
We may moderate User Content, including automated checks (such as image Safe Search before upload) and human review. We may remove or refuse content that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe is harmful or inappropriate. We do not commit to review all content.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service—including software, branding, logos, design, and documentation—is owned by PuzzleWorks or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited right to use the Service under these Terms, no rights are granted to you.
“PuzzleWorks” and related marks are trademarks of PuzzleWorks. Third-party puzzle brands, images, and trademarks appearing in user uploads or catalog data remain the property of their respective owners.
Feedback you send us (ideas, bug reports, suggestions) may be used by us without obligation or compensation to you.
9. Advertising
The mobile apps may show advertisements served by Google AdMob (and related Google advertising services) when advertising is enabled. Ads may be personalized or non-personalized depending on your region, consent choices (including Google’s User Messaging Platform where required), and—on iOS—App Tracking Transparency permission.
Advertising partners may collect device and advertising identifiers and related data as described in our Privacy Policy and their own policies. We may block certain ad categories in AdMob; that does not guarantee every ad will be puzzle-themed or free of all unwanted topics.
10. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is described in the PuzzleWorks Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
11. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third parties such as Supabase (backend/auth/storage), Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications), Google Vision (image moderation), and Google AdMob (ads). Your use of those services may also be subject to their terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
12. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that content (including User Content or ads) will be accurate or appropriate for you. Community events, timers, and results are provided for community use and may contain mistakes.
13. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PUZZLEWORKS AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, the limitation applies to the fullest extent permitted.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PuzzleWorks and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims, losses, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or applicable law.
15. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account as described above.
We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to applicable law, exclusive venue for disputes will be the state or federal courts located in Lincoln County, Maine.
18. General
- Entire agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede prior beta or other terms for production use.
- Severability: If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- Waiver: Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
- Assignment: You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- No partnership: These Terms do not create a partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship.
